Invisalign® utilizes a series of custom-made aligners to straighten teeth. These aligner trays are made of smooth, comfortable and virtually invisible plastic that you simply wear over your teeth. The aligners will gradually and gently shift your teeth into place, based on the exact movements Dr. Bennett plans out for you. There are no metal brackets to attach and no wires to tighten. You simply use a new set of aligners approximately every two weeks, until your treatment is complete and you achieve the confident smile that you have always wanted. The first step is a free Invisalign® consultation with Dr. Bennett. You and Dr. Bennett will discuss your case in detail to determine if you are a good candidate for Invisalign®. You will also have the opportunity to ask any questions that you may have about the treatment. If you and Dr. Bennett decide that you are a good candidate for Invisalign®, then the next step is scheduling your initial Invisalign® records appointment. At this appointment, Dr. Bennett and his staff will take digital X-rays, pictures, and impressions that will be sent directly to Invisalign® where a 3-D image will be created. Dr. Bennett will utilize these images to personalize your treatment plan and determine the exact movements that your teeth will need to make. Dr. Bennett will show you a virtual representation of how your teeth will move with each stage of treatment.
Once Dr. Bennett has completed your treatment plan, a series of custom-made clear aligners will be created specifically for you. The retainers are made of clear, smooth, BPA free plastic that minimizes any irritation to the gums and cheeks that traditional metal braces often cause. You wear the aligners throughout the day only taking them out to eat, brush, and floss. Your teeth will gradually move into place as you wear each set of aligners.
Approximately every two to three weeks you will be switching to a new set of aligners quickly moving you to the next phase of your orthodontic treatment. Despite changing your aligners every two to three weeks, you will only have to visit Dr. Bennett for a check-up about every six weeks.
Every individual is unique with their orthodontic treatment. Typically for adult cases, a year is necessary. For teens, the length of treatment mirrors that of traditional metal braces; however, vast improvements can be seen more quickly because of the clear aligners.
